Charles Lesser

Charles started his career 20 years ago, at UBS’ equity research department in the top rated oil & gas team. In 2006 he left to establish Tristone, a new oil & gas advisory boutique in London, which became the leading advisor to oil independents (by size and volume). In 2009 this was sold to Macquarie, where Charles initially ran the Small & Mid Cap equities business before migrating to corporate finance, heading up the European Energy investment banking team. His clients include most of the well known independent oil & gas companies.

Kieron Hodgson

Kieron is Executive Director, Commodities & Mining Research and joined Panmure Gordon following the acquisition of Charles Stanley Securities in 2015. He has been voted number one Metals & Mining stock picker in the Thomson Reuters StarMine Analyst Awards for 2015 and 2016, and was ranked third in 2017.

Prior to Charles Stanley, Kieron worked at Insight Investment’s UK Equity Team, where he was an assistant fund manager responsible for over £5bn of UK long only, institutional and retail mandates.

Kieron authors Panmure Gordon’s diamond market publication, The Quarterly Carat, and in conjunction with Chief Economist Simon French, The Quarterly Nugget, which focuses on gold and utilises Panmure Gordon’s proprietary five-factor model.

Kieron is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Adam James

Adam joined Panmure Gordon in March 2012. Adam has gained a wide range of experience in all areas of investment banking and capital markets, including primary and secondary equity fundraisings, M&A, restructuring and strategic advice.

Adam covers a breadth of sectors but has a particular focus on natural resources, advising AIM, Official List, dual listed and private clients.

Adam received a BSc (Hons) from Edinburgh University in Physiology and Neuroscience and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and the Energy Institute.

Ian Gibson

Ian joined Panmure Gordon in 2013 to head its marketmaking desk having previously worked at JP Morgan Cazenove running its UK Mid Cap equities arm.

He began his City career in 1987 at Hoare Govett working on a number of desks before the firm was taken over by ABN Amro.

He moved to Commerzbank Securities in 2000 to help set up and run its Pan Euro equities business before joining Cazenove in 2005.

He ran mid cap trading at Cazenove before the company merged with JP Morgan in 2010 – bringing a number of IPO’s to market and helping corporate clients on placings and sensitive stake building strategies.

Colin Smith

Colin joined Panmure Gordon in July 2014 to upgrade and build out Panmure Gordon’s oils research. He brings extensive experience in oils including 10 years in the oil industry and has been analysing and broking oil stocks for 26 years (Hoare Govett, BZW, CS, DKIB, ICAP and VTB Capital).

Colin has headed numerous teams and has covered western European integrateds, global integrateds, UK E&Ps (top 3 rated) and spent six years as a global  oils specialist salesman.

Colin holds an LLB (joint honours with economics) and an MBA both from Edinburgh University and is currently learning Russian.
