Chloe Ponsonby
Managing Director – Corporate Broking

Chloe Ponsonby is a Senior Managing Director, Corporate Broking, and is responsible for driving the expansion of our client footprint in the UK.

She joined from McLean Advisory, an independent equity advisory firm where she was a Partner. Prior to this, she managed UK equity funds at Jupiter Asset Management before moving on to advise companies as a Corporate Broker.

Chloe is also a Non-Executive Director of Avon Rubber plc. Through her fund management and Board experience, she has unique insight into the decisions faced by both our corporate and institutional clients.

Why did you join Panmure Gordon?

Since the company was taken private, Panmure Gordon entered an exciting growth phase. I saw it as a unique opportunity to join what I call a 142-year old start-up: a business with a proud heritage that is redefining the merchant bank. At the very heart of Panmure Gordon is a desire to support the long-term aspirations of the UK’s growing companies. That is an ambition that resonates strongly with me.

Where do you think are the greatest opportunities for Panmure Gordon?

UK mid-market companies tend to fall beneath the radar of multinational investment banks and this is where we see the opportunity. Our focus is on providing a variety of funding solutions to companies that need capital to grow. Equity capital markets can be the best solution, but not always . As we expand into Private Capital Solutions, Debt Advisory and M&A, our advice is increasingly “capital agnostic”.

How do you work with your team to put clients first?

Our clients are our top priority. To do the best job for them, it is imperative to take a long-term view of their business, just as we take a long-term view of our own.

We always try to consider issues from our client’s point of view. Diverse experience across the team helps. I am fortunate to have a fund management background, and I currently sit on the Board of Avon Rubber plc, which gives me a valuable 360 degree perspective. It is easier to advise companies having first-hand experience of the issues and sensitivities they face, and a clear understanding of the motivations of their shareholders.

We are joined up in our approach to client service. We pride ourselves on our long-standing client relationships and we are happy to be judged by the quality of our advice.
