Alan MacDonald

Alan has nearly 30 years of experience in equities markets. He served as Head of Global Research at UBS, having previously been No.1 ranked Oil & Gas analyst at its legacy firm, SG Warburg. More recently, Alan served as Head of International Equity Research at Nomura, leading its Content cash equities business in EMEA, at a time when the firm largely unbundled research and execution.


Peter McNally

Peter has 18 years of experience in the Technology sector as an equity research analyst and specialist sales.

Prior to joining Panmure Gordon in  August 2017, Peter worked at Shore Capital, Charles Stanley, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. 

Peter is originally from the UK but lived in the US for 20 years before moving to London. 

He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley where he studied Law.

Andrew Blain

Andrew joined Panmure Gordon in August 2017. Prior to this he worked for over a decade covering Beverages and Smaller Companies at Shore Capital and Growth Companies at Cenkos Securities. He has gained a broad range of experience across multiple sectors and a significant number of primary and secondary fundraisings. Andrew was voted Small Cap Awards ‘Analyst of the Year’ in 2017.  

He holds a BA (Hons) Business Economics from the University of Liverpool and MBA from Manchester Business School.


Shailesh Raikundlia

Shailesh joined Panmure Gordon in November 2016 to broaden our coverage in the FIG sector where he will focus on Banks & Specialist Financials research.

He joins from Haitong Securities where he analysed the UK banking sector for five years.  Shailesh has over 18 years of experience in investing and analysing the financial sector having previously worked at Credit Suisse, MF Global and Thames River Capital. 

Shailesh  holds an MSc in Finance from the ICMA Centre and is CFA qualified.

Mark Irvine-Fortescue

Mark joined Panmure Gordon in October 2016 to cover the Travel & Leisure sector.

Having covered the same sector at Jefferies, Mark was ranked #1 for stock picking in 2016 (Starmine) and has 10 years equity & credit markets experience covering the wider Consumer space, starting his City career at RBS.

Mark qualified as a Chartered Accountant after studying PPE at UCL.

Dr Julie Simmonds

Julie joined Panmure Gordon in November 2015 from Canaccord Genuity. She has 18 years’ experience in Life Sciences research, covering both UK and continental European companies across a wide range of Healthcare subsectors. These include biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics and healthcare services across both large and small-cap companies.

Prior to Canaccord Genuity Julie was a member of the No.1 Extel‑rated healthcare team at Piper Jaffray. Julie started her City career at Beeson Gregory, where she became Head of Lifesciences research.

Julie has a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Kent and experience in industry in both Europe and the US. She is also panel member for NIHR i4i (invention for innovation), assessing early stage medical technologies.

Michael Donnelly

Michael has 24 years’ experience, mainly in equity research. He previously covered the Business Services sector for Canaccord and Bridgewell, before which, he worked for Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Accenture.

He has been Extel rated in both the Business Services and Technology sectors, and has a BSc (Hons) in Laser Physics and an MSc in Finance from London Business School.

Kieron Hodgson

Kieron joined Panmure Gordon following the acquisition of Charles Stanley Securities in July 2015. At Charles Stanley he became its Commodity & Mining Analyst and was voted number one Metals & Mining stock picker 2015, in the prestigious Thomson Reuters StarMine Analyst Awards for 2015. This year he was also awarded the Metals and Mining top stock picker for the second year running in both the UK & Ireland and Europe, ranking no.4 overall in the industry.

He began his City career in 1997 with Clerical Medical as a junior administrator, before rising to the role of senior reconciliation analyst. He moved to Insight Investment’s UK Equity Team in 2005, before becoming an assistant fund manager responsible for over £5bn of UK long only, institutional and retail mandates in 2007.

Kieron is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and was responsible for the Charles Stanley weekly commodity overview, covering multiple commodity classes. Kieron is also the author of Panmure Gordon’s regular diamond market publication, “the Quarterly carat”.

Colin Smith

Colin joined Panmure Gordon in July 2014 to upgrade and build out Panmure Gordon’s oils research. He brings extensive experience in oils including 10 years in the oil industry and has been analysing and broking oil stocks for 26 years (Hoare Govett, BZW, CS, DKIB, ICAP and VTB Capital).

Colin has headed numerous teams and has covered western European integrateds, global integrateds, UK E&Ps (top 3 rated) and spent six years as a global  oils specialist salesman.

Colin holds an LLB (joint honours with economics) and an MBA both from Edinburgh University and is currently learning Russian.

Sanjay Jha

Sanjay has over 20 years experience as an investment analyst and has built strong relationships with institutional investors.

Sanjay joined Panmure Gordon in 2014 to cover the Industrials sector. He has been #1 Extel rated and previously worked at Société Générale, MF Global, Pali Capital and Williams de Broe.

This year Sanjay was awarded top earnings estimator analyst and top stock picker in Machinery within Europe at the Thomson Reuters Analyst Awards.
