What motivated you to join Panmure Gordon?
One consequence of consolidation among investment banks has been the loss of full-service firms focused on the UK growth and mid-market companies. Panmure Gordon aims to fill that gap by building a modern merchant bank providing the full range of investment banking services to UK companies. Combined with Panmure Gordon’s heritage and trusted brand, I believe that this is an exciting model which is much in demand.
What do you think are the greatest opportunities for your part of Panmure Gordon’s business ?
Currently, UK companies may have to go to one firm to borrow money, another to raise equity, and a third for M&A advice. Advisers often have no choice but to push one particular option, as it may be the only one which they can provide. Panmure Gordon aims to be a “capital agnostic” adviser by offering a variety of solutions to clients, with the breadth of skills required to advise on public and private equity, M&A, and debt and structured capital. We can, therefore, provide genuinely impartial and independent advice to our clients, along with excellent execution capability across a broad range of products.
What is the most fulfilling aspect about your work?
For me it’s all about outcomes – knowing we helped our client achieve a better result than they would have on their own. That’s why Panmure Gordon exists and that’s why companies hire us.
